Overview
Project Drishti is a transformative humanitarian initiative led by The Avanti Foundation in partnership with KMECT (Kashmiri Medical Emergency & Charitable Trust) and the Ramakrishna Mission. Our shared goal is to bring quality, affordable eye care to underserved communities by establishing the Ramakrishna Mission Eye Hospital in Jammu Project Drishti seeks to change that.
Why Eye Care?
Vision impairment affects millions across India—particularly the elderly and economically disadvantaged. Many of these cases, such as cataracts, are entirely treatable. Yet, the lack of access to affordable, high-quality care continues to limit opportunities and independence for thousands.
Our Mission
To restore sight and hope to those in need by:
- Providing free and low-cost cataract surgeries and essential eye care services.
- Creating a sustainable, locally run eye care center of excellence.
- Empowering patients with the gift of renewed vision and dignity.
- Reducing avoidable blindness in rural and marginalized populations.
The Hospital
The upcoming Ramakrishna Mission Eye Hospital in Jammu will feature:
- State-of-the-art surgical facilities
- Outpatient and diagnostic services
- Mobile eye camps to reach remote areas
- Compassionate care teams trained to serve with dignity and empathy
Impact
